Large lecture hall at SDSU with WolfVision Ceiling Visualizer suspended from the ceiling above the instructor‘s lectern.

SDSU has been a WolfVision customer for more than a decade, and Visualizer and camera systems are used throughout the university, in large lecture halls, mid-size and small capacity classrooms, and also in some active learning spaces. With 160x EYE-10/EYE-12/EYE-14 Camera systems, plus 3x VZ-C12 Ceiling Visualizers in use, SDSU generally suspends its classroom imaging systems from the ceiling, or recesses them into a suspended ceiling above the instructor’s podium, in order to maximise available space at the lectern.

A ceiling-mounted WolfVision system maximises the available working space on the height-adjustable side table.

With learning space ceiling heights ranging from 6’ to 20’, high quality systems with excellent optical performance are essential for seamless, high-quality operation in the classroom. A typical setup includes a height-adjustable table with whiteboard surface, with the Visualizer/Camera image being projected onto classroom screens via video/data projectors. Some classrooms are also equipped with additional TV displays and Extron switching components.

We have been very pleased with the quality of our WolfVision products, which have led us to continue purchasing their Visualizers to equip our learning spaces. Additionally, the ease of installation of these products is an added bonus.

Senior Academic Technology Officer - SDSU

The whiteboard surface is used for writing notes, annotating documents, or positioning 3-dimensional objects, all of which are picked up by the Visualizer/Camera, magnified, and quickly and easily displayed on the large classroom screens. SDSU faculty and staff are encouraged to use this setup instead of wall-mounted whiteboards, especially in large lecture classrooms, because it enables all students in the room to see displayed content clearly, instead of just those seated at the front of the class. Instructors no longer need to turn their backs on the students in order to write on a whiteboard, and the increased eye contact and engagement helps to encourage in-room interaction, and maintain the attention of student audiences. High quality technology and excellent imaging quality are key criterion for SDSU.

Physical objects / materials of all kinds can be picked up, magnified and displayed on-screen for viewing by the entire student audience.

Their quality is second to none - we have some Visualizers in rooms that have been running 24/7 for years with no issues. WolfVision also provides excellent customer service, and working with them for a replacement or demo unit has always been pleasant and successful.
