vSolution MATRIX transforms co-working spaces

The ZDI Centre of Digital Innovation is a new digital business incubator in Mainfranken, Southern Germany, which supports the activities of early-stage digital start-ups. Together with local universities, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, and the neighbouring business incubators in Würzburg, Schweinfurt and Bad Kissingen, a strong regional start-up network is emerging, supported by almost 40 sponsor companies from the region.

To achieve the greatest possible flexibility in creative thinking, and to optimally support the design, product development, and prototyping processes, plus providing help in the areas of management and training, ZDI Mainfranken wanted to remove its existing inflexible wired media technology infrastructure. Instead, the goal was to introduce a wireless technology solution that would support a variety of applications such as streaming and recording, together with wireless BYOD infrastructure. A key requirement was to enable trainers, workshop attendees, meeting delegates, and co-workers, to utilise their own personal smartphones, laptops, and tablets throughout the facility, as an intuitive part of the collaborative working environment. WolfVision partner, Franken Lehrmittel Medientechnik, handled the entire project from conception and design through to its successful technical implementation. WolfVision Cynap, Cynap Core, and vSolution MATRIX networked AV multi-screen collaboration technologies are used to create a state-of-the-art, flexible wireless presentation and collaboration solution.

Content can be shared onto the main display screen from any device, without needing apps, dongles or extra software.

The flexible workspace has a single Cynap as its main unit, connected to 5 further Cynap Core systems, each with a Sharp display monitor. Wireless BYOD technology supporting AirPlay, Miracast, and Chromecast mirroring protocols, enables content to be shared easily on-screen from up to 4 devices at the same time, without requiring the download of apps or software, or use of ‘easy-to-lose’ dongles or buttons – a key consideration when planning an installation that will be constantly in use by different groups of people. Cynap and Cynap Core also feature an integrated web browser which provides convenient web access, and support for Cloud services, allows meeting participants to download their files for use in workshops or meetings whenever they are required.

The layout of the rooms can be adjusted to suit different groups.

The vSolution MATRIX solution streams video and audio between multiple screens, including to a sixth Cynap Core, located together with a Confiwall® in a nearby building, giving maximum flexibility when working in multiple groups. Room configuration is flexible and can be adjusted depending on the number of co-working groups, and whether the additional remote workspace should be included. vSolution MATRIX enables room configuration templates to be stored for easy recall whenever an alternative room layout is required. A Cynap Core system on every workstation ensures an intuitive and easy-to use collaborative working environment, and the convenient browser-based ‘Room View’ on a tablet provides a simple drag and drop interface which enables content to be moved effortlessly between different screens in the room - or to the remote screen in the second building.

Cynap Core and Confiwall® in remote location provide additional flexibility when working together.

From a security perspective, the WolfVision system operates on the ZDI guest network, and no access is allowed through to the ZDI corporate network, which is important considering the large number of visitors to the facility. Secure data encryption of all wired and wireless data ensures a secure working environment at all times.

We have been really surprised to see just how much advantage the wireless technology gives us when collaborating, when presenting, and during our workshop days, and we see this as a clear advantage for our facility in comparison to other facilities.”
Mr. Tilman Hampl
