WolfVision Cynap solutions: Supporting the return to jury trials
Digital transformation in the courtroom
In response to the Covid-19 pandemic and beyond, and in order to proceed with judicial activities whilst also adhering to social distancing guidelines, courtrooms worldwide are undergoing rapid change.
WolfVision Cynap wireless presentation, web conferencing and collaboration solutions support hybrid courtroom setups, helping to enable simultaneous in-person and remote participation in court proceedings.
Systems are rapid to deploy, cost-effective, secure, and easy-to-use, and they provide a customisable range of functionality allowing controlled presentation of evidence, together with built-in video conferencing, streaming, wireless screen sharing, and annotation capability.
Supporting the return to jury trials
To enable the return of in-person jury trials, social distancing can be maintained either by using Cynap systems to stream on-screen content within a room or to additional rooms such as a jury room, or streaming material directly to iPad or other devices.
Often, a defendant does not need to appear in-person, but can attend remotely from home or prison, whilst still benefiting from a fair and consistent courtroom experience.
Adapting to the present, innovating for the future
Hearings, arraignments, and trials have in many cases, already been adapted to enable social distancing, and where appropriate, remote court attendance via wireless conference. With a backlog of cases waiting for trial, remote technologies continue to be useful, helping to deliver time efficiencies and cost savings.
Cynap can be used for room-to-room streaming, and also streaming directly to state servers, YouTube or other video platforms, helping to maintain public accessibility at times when not everybody is able to attend a coutroom in person.
